Credits
Credits are the currency for skill generation in Smidge. Each skill generation costs 1 credit.
What Are Credits?
One credit equals one skill generation. When you generate a SKILL.md file — either through the web app or the CLI — one credit is deducted from your balance.
| Action | Credit Cost |
|---|---|
| Generate a new skill | 1 credit |
| Regenerate an existing skill | 1 credit |
| Edit a skill | Free |
| Download a skill | Free |
| Share / unshare a skill | Free |
| Duplicate a skill | Free |
| Delete a skill | Free |
Free Credits
Every new Smidge account receives 2 free credits upon signup. No credit card is required. These credits never expire and work identically to purchased credits.
Purchasing Credits
You can purchase additional credits through the credit packs:
| Pack | Credits | Price | Per Skill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 5 | $9 | $1.80 |
| Pro Pack | 15 | $19 | $1.27 |
Credit packs are one-time purchases. Credits are added to your balance immediately after payment and never expire.
Unlimited Subscribers
Users on the Unlimited plan ($19/month) do not have credits deducted for generations. The credit balance is paused while the subscription is active. If the subscription is cancelled, remaining credits become available again.
Credit Transaction History
View your full credit history on the Account page. The history shows:
- ●Credits earned (signup bonus, purchases)
- ●Credits spent (generations, regenerations)
- ●Timestamps for each transaction
- ●Associated skill name for generations
What Happens at Zero Credits?
When your credit balance reaches zero:
- ●You cannot generate new skills
- ●You cannot regenerate existing skills
- ●All other features remain available (editing, downloading, sharing, etc.)
- ●You can purchase more credits or subscribe to Unlimited at any time
- ●Existing skills are not affected — they remain in your library
